Irrigated rice and cotton farming use tractors, and road building adds construction demand. Most dealers are in Bamako.

Importing and registering equipment in Mali

  1. Routes in

Mali is landlocked. Equipment usually comes through Dakar, Abidjan, Conakry or Lomé and then by road or rail.

  2. Cargo tracking note

Sea shipments need a cargo tracking note (BESC) issued before loading. Your freight forwarder normally arranges it.

  3. Customs

Clearance is through Malian Customs. Most importers use a licensed clearing agent.

  4. Registering for road use

Machines used on public roads must be registered and plated with the national vehicle registration authority. Your dealer or a local clearing agent can usually arrange this.

General guidance only. Rules change, so confirm with the official bodies or your clearing agent before you buy. Last checked October 2026.
