The equipment market in Angola

Main demand fromOil and gasMiningConstruction

Angola is one of Africa's biggest oil producers, and oil, diamond mining and large public works drive heavy equipment demand.

The Lobito corridor, a railway from Lobito to the copper belt of DR Congo and Zambia, is bringing new investment. Farming is being expanded, and most dealers are in Luanda.

Importing and registering equipment in Angola

  1. Ports

Luanda, Lobito (start of the Benguela railway) and Namibe.

  2. Cargo tracking certificate

Sea shipments need a cargo tracking certificate (ARCCLA, from the national shippers' council CNCA) issued before loading. Your freight forwarder normally arranges it.

  3. Customs

Clearance is through the AGT (Administração Geral Tributária). Most importers use a licensed clearing agent.

  4. Registering for road use

Machines used on public roads must be registered and plated with the national vehicle registration authority. Your dealer or a local clearing agent can usually arrange this.

General guidance only. Rules change, so confirm with the official bodies or your clearing agent before you buy. Last checked October 2026.
